Thanks for the feedback, folks. The one line I would change is when Greg calls Molly a slut during sex. Molly seems to have three complaints: 1) Relationally, she can't respect her lovers (they are dumb, unempathic, immature). 2) Sexually, she isn't pleased by her lovers (she wants orgasms, not necessarily a soft fuck. She wants her desire for pleasure to be respected, not necessarily to be treated like a pretty pretty princess). 3) Sociopolitically, she doesn't want to be judged for her sexual behavior (and in that context, the sentence where Greg calls her a slut sticks out like a sore thumb, not something Molly would appreciate). Greg calls her a good fuck when they're done, but doesn't ignore the emotional/relational side of her. Look at the way Molly focuses on Greg's strength throughout the story, the power of his body. It doesn't seem out of character that she would enjoy an expression of that power during sex. But, the slut line fit Greg's character, but not Molly's. |
