Generate images for social media posts
- [Instructor] With DALL E built into ChatGPT, you can create custom GPTs to generate images around requirements specific to your needs. Now, of course, you can use ChatGPT to generate images at any time without the need for creating a custom GPT, but by creating a custom GPT, you can create and save specific instructions on how the images should look or be generated. For example, maybe your organization uses a particular palette of colors in your communications, so you could instruct a GPT to always start from that color palette. For this example, let's say I frequently post instructional articles to LinkedIn and I want to come up with some images to accompany my posts. So let's go to Explore GPTs and click Create. We'll go to the Create tab, and again, it's asking us what we'd like to make. So I'll say an assistant to generate images accompanying articles I write and post to LinkedIn. Again, it's suggesting a name for this GPT. You're free to accept it or you can always come up with your own name. Maybe I'll just say to call it LinkedIn Article Images. And as usual, it will now generate a profile photo for this GPT. I'll just say it looks good to me. And now it's going to ask me questions to help refine what this GPT does. Here's asking what kind of image styles or themes do you want to focus on or avoid. In this case, I'll say this assistant is for generating images to accompany articles that cover a wide range of topics, but often around the subjects of education and lifelong learning. It updates the GPT with this information. Next is asking how do you want it to talk to you, friendly and casual, professional and efficient, or something else. I'll say keep communications conversational and concise, but offer detailed explanations if asked by the user. And as I've mentioned before, you don't have to answer all the questions it asks you here. It will help refine your GPT if you do, but if you have a sense of what you're going for, you can just start typing those instructions. In this case, I want to provide some detailed instructions on how I want the images it generates to look. Now, when it comes to the style of the image, that's entirely up to you. If I'm trying to establish a brand, I may want to have it stick to a certain look like asking it to generate images in earth tones or in a hand-drawn style. Or I may want to switch it up each time. So maybe in this case, I want a fairly cohesive look between all the images it generates for me. So I'll come down here and write, generated images should be relevant to the subject matter of the article. Images should be in a hand-drawn style, but the colors shouldn't be too vibrant. When creating representations of people embrace inclusivity and diversity. Include a short explanation of what the image is and why it's a good accompanying image for the article. Now obviously these are just some examples of instructions you can provide. You can of course write whatever parameters you want for your own images. Again, we can go to the Configure tab to see the instructions. And again, we can make changes here as necessary, but we'll just close that and I think we're ready to test this out. I have the text of an article I wrote here in Text Edit, and this is just in plain text and it's called Six Tips to Learn Any Software. So we'll just select all of that. I'll copy it and I'll come back and paste it in the preview area here in my GPT. And notice I didn't even have to write a prompt because this is a custom GPT, it just goes to work doing what it's been designed to do. In this case, it's offering me a detailed suggestion for an image that might suit this article. It's suggesting a hand-drawn style illustration of a group of listeners sitting around a laptop. And as I instructed it to, it includes information on why this image will fit the article. So I'll say, generate that image. And there it is. And of course, you're free to request changes or alternates. I could say something like, give me another option with fewer people in the image. And there's the alternate. Now it's worth pointing out that we're kind of in a transition point with image generation and ChatGPT as I record this video you're watching. You can see here that it's let me know that this was made with the old version of image generation and that new images are coming soon. And this is referring to the new and much more improved image generation capabilities of ChatGPT that are coming soon, which does a much better job with things, especially text. Notice we do have some gibberish text here like recuing right here. And you might have this new image generator available to you by the time you're watching this video. But in this case, I'm capturing things before it's available in custom GPTs. Still, it did a pretty decent job and I might just have to tweak some things in an image editing program sometimes. And remember, you can always go back to your GPT to make revisions. For example, maybe I end up primarily using this assistant to generate banner images for my LinkedIn articles, which are ideally formatted at a 1200 by 627 pixel dimension. So I can come back here to create and add that instruction. And now it's updated the GPT again for me. So there's my social image generator for LinkedIn articles.
