- Welcome to my class on custom GPTs. I am Jules White. I'm a professor in computer science at Vanderbilt University. And I'm the senior advisor to the Chancellor on generative AI in enterprise and education. I'm going to talk to you about this fascinating new space of how we can build conversational assistance to help us control computing and to solve real-world problems. But there's a lot of complexity in going and building these new generative AI assistants. When we want to go and build a custom GPT, we're going to have to think about how a user might talk to it, and how do we give it strategies to solve different problems and deal with ambiguity in the real world, but also how do we create really interactive, amazing experiences? I'm going to teach you a whole bunch of patterns for building these custom GPTs and doing things that are really powerful to help the user, you know, solve the problem that's in front of them, while also hedging our bets and being careful about risk. And thinking carefully about testing things and making sure that we don't produce outputs that can't be trusted or create more problems for the user. It's an absolutely fascinating space of exploration, and I can't wait to embark on this journey with you.
