- [Instructor] So typical hardware failures that you might encounter relate to fans. These are typically cooling fans, and possibly the reason that they tend to fail is they're one of the few remaining moving parts in a modern computer. They also tend to attract dust due to static electricity, and that can lead to wear and tear on the bearings and so forth in the fan cooling system. So that's certainly a reason for a problem with your computer. Once the cooling fan goes, then the computer will overheat fairly rapidly, and then possibly be damaged, and certainly be non-operational. Power supply units. Probably for a similar reason, I mean, in and of themselves, they're not terribly unreliable, but because they also have a cooling fan that runs to keep the power supply unit cooled, they are also prone to failure. So again, because they're moving parts, because they also have generate static electricity and can attract dust, which can get in, again, to the moving parts and start to wear…
