Collation and character sets

Collation and character sets

- [Instructor] We have discussed many of the different aspects of data. Essentially the pieces of the data that make up databases. These are all foundational pieces, very important and critical to the design. I'm going to discuss one more item that is important to consider when you complete your architecture and move from the design to the build phase, just like when building a house. As when building a house, this is very foundational and difficult to change after the fact, and is specific to set and setting. Like a foundation of mud and straw is fine for a dry, hot climate, but not for a wet and cold one, different collations and character sets are appropriate for different situations.
