- [Voiceover] There's many different types of brushes you can create in Illustrator. And even though when I'm vector painting I almost next to never use a Pattern Brush in the traditional sense of what a Pattern Brush is, I want to show you really quickly how to create one because it is useful. And it starts with your source graphic, which is a bitmap tiff that I've placed into Illustrator. And this is one I created in Photoshop. And when I say Pattern Brush, the whole reason pattern is even part of that name is because this image seamlessly kind of repeats itself from left to right, not top and bottom obviously. But from the left and right, it'll continuously create a nice, in this case, an organic kind of dithered shading kinda pattern. And we're gonna turn this into a brush. Now, some of the same methodology is used to create a vector-based brush like this that is used to create the paintbrush that I showed you previously.
