The INDEX/MATCH vs. VLOOKUP controversy
As we go deeper into advanced Excel, there's something that I have to let you know about. In the Excel world, the number one controversy is over index match or VLOOKUP. There's index match people who say you should never, ever use VLOOKUP. Beginners should never be taught VLOOKUP. But I am here to tell you they are two legitimate tools. VLOOKUP is a function, INDEXMATCH is a nested function. VLOOKUP does have some weaknesses and I cover some of those in other videos in the course. But I just needed for you to know that there is this controversy and I invite you not to get sucked into it. But this is your choice, Whether you want to exclusively use Index Match, that's your choice. If you want to use VLOOKUP sometimes, Index Match sometimes, or better yet, XLOOKUP, these are choices that you have to make for your context.
