- [Instructor] Now, one of the mistakes people make when making dashboards is they don't take their data and put it into an Excel table. Okay, so what's an Excel table? And, you know, I'm looking at this table right here and you may say, "Well, this is in fact an Excel table." But in truth, an Excel table is something different. So when I talk about Excel tables, I might say a table with a capital T and you would find that feature over here where it says Insert, Table, but I don't want you to do that yet. Let me show you why it's a mistake to not use tables and then we'll figure out from there why we should be using tables. So I'm going to go into cell J3. In here, I'll type an equals. And here I just want to do a record count. So I'll do a count all, counta, open left parenthesis here, and then I'm just going to count everything in this left-hand column, I've selected A2, I'm looking at my keyboard, Ctrl + Shift…
