VDB: Declining balance depreciation for a partial period
- [Instructor] Now the VDB function is different again as it allows you a bit more flexibility to vary the different inputs to the function. Because of the way that the inputs work with this function, it's not spillable. So we're not going to use dynamic arrays this time. So let's go in and put in the VDB function. I'm going to use the dialogue box for this one. Because we need to pull it down, we need to anchor it using the F4 shortcut. So the salvage is 1500, F4, the life is eight years, F4. Now the start period is the period for which we want to calculate the depreciation. And this is what gives the VDB function so much flexibility. So the start period here is, we're going to start with period 0, and the end period will be 1 . So that is going to calculate the amount of depreciation between or from the beginning of the period to the end of the first period. The factor, it's asking for the rate. If we leave it blank, it's going to be double declining. We'll put that in as 2 in this…
