- [Instructor] Communities require shared language. You could say that communities are based on shared language. Agreement on the smaller matters of how we say and do things lets us focus on the more important matters, and so it is in Web development. You'll be expected to follow standardized guidelines and procedures to make work easier for others on your team. Some guidelines and procedures are standard throughout an industry. These are established and maintained by a national or, more often, international body. It's usually called the I SO or ISO, and I know, the letters don't match. There's a long explanation of that on its Wikipedia page. Anyway, the ISO has thousands of standards, many of them on such things as textiles and medical procedures, but you'll see some ISO standards as a Web Developer as well.
