- [Instructor] Creating formulas in Excel, lets you answer questions such as what percentage of my total expenses are inventory. What you can't do at least not easily is say how much do I need to reduce my inventory, so it accounts for only 20% of my total expenses. Rather than try a bunch of values by hand, you can have Excel do it for you using Goal Seek. I'll show you how to do that in this movie. My sample file is 0201 Goal Seek and you can find it in the Chapter 2 folder of the exercise files collection. In this workbook, I have a series of expenses for calendar year 2022. And in column E, I have have my inventory costs of $100,000. And that accounts for 24.94% of my total which is found in cell G4. If I want to reduce inventory cost to 20% of the total then I can try different values. So for example, in cell E4 I can type 80,000 and press enter, and that reduces the percentage to 21%, but you noticed a couple of…
