Installing Debian Linux
- [Instructor] To install Linux in VirtualBox, first we need an installation image or disc. While VirtualBox allows you to connect to a system's optical drive to install from a CD or DVD, the process we'll go through in this video uses an ISO image, a file that represents the contents of an installation desk. There are many different distributions of Linux, and in this video I'll use Debian 12, the most recent stable release of Debian available when I'm recording this. You can follow along with whichever version of whichever distro you'd like. I'll visit debian.org and click the big Download button. Downloading the ISO will take a while, so you might want to pause the video here for a little bit while you download. After the ISO is available on the system, I'll open up VirtualBox. From the tools section, I'll click on New. The first window that I see asks me to give this machine a name. This is what will appear as the name…
