- [Instructor] Building an effective dashboard is the cornerstone of effective reporting. If you design your dashboard in a smart way, your end user will be able to see exactly what they want to see out of the data and be able to customize and drill down on their own. This will save both of you guys a huge amount of time as you won't have to dig in the data and they won't even have to send you an email, they'll be empowered to use the data on their own. I'm in the reports view of a Power BI workbook. I've gone ahead and connected to the exercise files of this course, built a model, and built some very basic data visualizations. Now, there is one specific component of this dashboard that's missing, there are no KPIs. KPI is short for a Key Performance Indicator and these are the high-level data points that are very important.
